History
History of Edgewood Farmhouse
Built in 1910, the home was the original farmhouse for the hundreds of acres of tobacco fields that once grew on the farm. The home has a rich history. Inside you’ll find eight original fireplaces, one of which is currently still used. Inside the main foyer are the original hardwood floors and a beautiful staircase, complete with original woodwork. A total of 7 stained glass windows adorn the home, all of which appear to have been crafted at the same time as the home.
Over the years, the home has undergone various additions including the kitchen, garage, primary bathroom, laundry room, and an additional bedroom. Outside the home, an in-ground pool and tennis court have been added as well.
The main structure of the home consists of four rooms which you will be able to experience if you visit our Parlor Store, located in one of the home’s front rooms. As you arrive at the home, you will see a large stone located in a planter bed near the circle driveway. This stone was once used to assist carriage passengers in exiting their carriage after they arrived at the home.
In January of 2022, this home was purchased with a vision of creating a farm that the community can enjoy. It is our hope that you are able to get back to nature, spend time relaxing in the lavender field, and learn a little bit more about farming.
We thank you for visiting the Lazy Fox Lavender Farm and look forward to seeing you again soon.
